Pohjolan Voima's subsidiary PVO-Innopower Oy has added two new 3 MW wind turbines at its Riutunkari wind farm in Oulunsalo. Currently in the commissioning stage, the new turbines will increase the overall capacity of the Riutunkari wind farm to 10.3 MW.
Pekkaniska Oy will carry out the hoisting required for the erection of the new turbines' towers, machine rooms and rotors in February. The foundations were completed in 2007. The Finland-domiciled Winwind Oy supplied the turbines. With a hub height of 90 metres, the diameter of the turbines' rotors is 100 metres and the tips of the wings reach a height of 140 metres.
At Riutunkari in Oulunsalo, PVO-Innopower already has three 1 MW wind turbines as well as one 1.3 megawatt wind turbine, near the Hailuoto ferry dock.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry has granted the investment subsidies for the construction of the wind park. The expansion project's estimated cost is EUR 8.6 million.
