The construction of Porin Prosessivoima’s new electric boiler has progressed to roof height, and equipment installation will begin at the start of March. The 60megawatt electric boiler will become part of Porin Prosessivoima’s existing power plant complex.

“The construction of the electric boiler has advanced as planned to roof height, and we are now able to begin equipment installation. According to the schedule, the electric boiler will be completed in August 2026,” says Eero Niemitalo, Managing Director of Porin Prosessivoima.

“Once completed, the electric steam boiler will secure and enhance energy production while reducing the need for fuel combustion and, consequently, emissions. It brings a new flexible element to our production. Heat will be generated with the electric boiler when electricity prices are low. In addition, it enables increased production of balancing power required by the electricity system.”

Porin Prosessivoima is a subsidiary of Pohjolan Voima. Its biopower plant, located in the Kaanaa industrial area of Pori, produces district heat for Pori Energia, process heat for local industry, as well as electricity.
