Great Place to Work® published its annual Finland’s Best Workplaces list on Thursday, 26 March 2026. Pohjolan Voima Oyj was awarded first place in the small organisations category. The company has carried out long-term, systematic work to develop its corporate culture and workplace community. The organisation’s socially significant mission and inclusive leadership culture are reflected in the study as strong employee engagement and mutual trust.

“It is valuable to receive recognition for what I get to witness in our everyday work at Pohjolan Voima. Trust is the foundation of our open and inclusive culture. Trust brings out the best in us, both as professionals and as people. We nurture it in our partnerships and in everything we do,” says Ilkka Tykkyläinen, President and CEO of Pohjolan Voima Oyj.

As a Finnish company promoting carbon-neutral energy production, Pohjolan Voima plays a significant role in society. The meaningfulness of the work strengthens employees’ commitment to the company. In the survey, 100% of employees said they are proud of what Pohjolan Voima achieves and feel that their own contribution is important.

The responses also highlight the importance of participatory decision-making.

“We have purposefully built our operations to be inclusive. Our entire work community is involved in the strategy process and regularly takes part in decision-making related to their own work and working environment. Working together creates a sense of connection that forms the basis for both mutual trust and commitment – and helps us carry through times of change as well,” Tykkyläinen continues.

“It is important to us that Pohjolan Voima employees share a common direction, have opportunities to succeed and room to develop. We develop our leadership and, for example, our ways of working with this in mind. I am pleased that this is reflected in our employees’ experiences,” says Tiina Nyström, Director, HR and Legal Affairs at Pohjolan Voima.
